State Police Arrest Georgetown Man for 5th Offense DUI

The Delaware State Police arrested 65-year-old Bruce Butler, of Georgetown, Delaware, for 5th offense DUI following a traffic stop Sunday night in Bear.
On October 4, 2026, at approximately 10:25 p.m., a trooper saw a Nissan Titan swerving on Route 1 southbound near Wrangle Hill Road and pulled it over. The trooper spoke to the driver, identified as Bruce Butler, who showed signs of impairment. Butler refused to complete all of the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and he was arrested for driving under the influence. A computer check showed that Butler had four prior DUI-related convictions and suspended/revoked driver’s license.
Butler was taken to Troop 2 where he was charged with the offenses listed below, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and committed to the Department of Correction on a $6,150 secured bond.

- 5th Offense DUI (Felony)
- Driving while Suspended or Revoked
- Failure to Remain within a Single Lane
